3 Tips For Supporting a Child Through Anxiety

1. Check your own energy. If their anxiety is making you anxious, it will only compound the experience for them. Take a deep breath, set your own emotional reaction to the side & commit to holding space for them.

2. Validate their experience, but not their fears. Listen with openness & empathy.

3. Ride the wave with them. The physical experience of anxiety within the body can be overwhelming and intense. Much like a wave that builds and crashes however, the feeling cannot remain at it's heightened level indefinitely. Stay with the child, ride the wave of anxiety with them & remind them how brave they are.
