Are you ready for a #truthbomb? A year ago, I couldn’t even go a single day without yelling at my kids. I was always anxious and never relaxed, especially around my kids. I hated the mom I was becoming and seriously wondered how I could change.
I tried therapy and life coaching and a ton of parent coaching, which helped me some. Ultimately the breakthrough came when I found a mom here in Instagram and I said, "I want to be like her. I want to be my OWN version of her."
I starting talking to myself about the kind of mom I was GOING to be, instead of the mom I was. Focusing on the mom I wanted to be and how I was going to get there.
I’m not perfect. I have my moments where I lose my cool, blow my top and let my passionate emotions get the better of me. I’m glad to say those moments are happening less and less the more I work on it.
I have less of them the more I focus on HOW I’m going to react to a situation BEFORE it happens. I role play it with my kids and my husband too. My anxiety is more manageable the more I focus on setting boundaries and becoming comfortable with what I am in control of.
I’m not perfect, but I’m making progress and that’s good enough for me. How are you becoming the mom you want to be?
