Being a parent is hard!
Being a parent is hard. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say it was easy. You don’t fully grasp the reality of parenting until you have someone calling you ‘mom’ or ‘dad’.
From an emotional stand point there is no comparison between being a parent and doing literally anything else in the world. It’s the hardest job you will ever have. On the daily i wonder if what I’m doing is enough.
If i take my son to the park enough. If i work with him on his words and colors and numbers enough. If i read to him enough. If i try to teach him how to share enough. Etc etc. I think as parents it’s easy to find yourself feeling like a failure. But here’s what I’ve learned, you’re not a failure.
If you find yourself thinking these thoughts, you’re not a failure. If you worry about your child and their well-being , you’re not a failure. If you find yourself in tears because you keep thinking about the ‘what ifs’, you’re NOT a failure.
It’s easy for us to think and feel this way. But you’re doing fine mom and dads of the world. If you have a roof over your head, food in your bellies, and smiles on your faces often, you’re doing just fine. You don’t have to buy your kid every single thing they want, that’s not what they’ll remember.
What they will remember are the memories of you being with them. Consoling them. Snuggling them. Playing with them. Teaching them. Like i said, being a parent is hard. But you’re doing just fine.
