“Won’t won’t you just sleep? I’m so exhausted! I can’t do this anymore.”
This was me the other night at 3 am when I finally had enough. 😫👆🏻
Something no one told me about before I became a mom, was how much I would OBSESS over sleep. It has consumed my life in so many aspects.
How much sleep will I get?
How much sleep will my kids get?
How much sleep should they be getting?
How do I help my kids sleep?
What is the “right” way to get them to sleep?
Can I survive this for even another month?
Is there a secret formula to getting these kids to sleep?!
Sleep, sleep, sleep.😴
It’s a huge part of motherhood...
We worry about it.
We read about it.
We talk about it.
We wish for it.
We think about it non stop!
No one could’ve ever prepared me for how the lack of sleep would affect me!
It changes my whole mood.
It makes me irritable.
It makes me act out in frustration.
It makes me envious of my partner who is sleeping beside me.
It makes me feel like I’m “lazy” when I’m exhausted the next day, and I can only do the bare minimum.
It makes it harder to love the skin I’m in, because I feel like a zombie right now.
Full transparency? On some of the hardest and loneliest nights while I’m trying to rock my crying baby to sleep, I just cry because I feel so defeated.
I love being a mother, and I love my kids more than life, but I am so over being freaking exhausted!
To the tired mama reading this, just know that your emotions and feelings are normal.
This season of motherhood isn’t easy. It’s okay to admit that it’s hard, and that you’re struggling.
The sleepless nights won’t last forever, and one day we might even look back and miss it a bit. Our babies won’t always need us to hold them and comfort them to sleep! (Okay, now I’m crying...😂🥺)
On those loneliest of nights, I hope this post will remind you that there is another mama out there feeling the same way, as she rocks her babies in the night. ❤️
