What is the most important thing we can do for our children?

I remember years ago watching my sister-in-law happily playing "kitties" on the floor with her kids and just knowing I was a terrible mother. I would rather scratch my eyes out than play "kitties" or "babies" or anything of the like. I've tried and I just HATE it. Passionately. Despite my love for my children, I cannot do it.

I truly felt for years and years that maybe I wasn't the "mothering type" because of this one stupid fact. On the other hand, my sister-in-law has often said how much she admires me (what?!) as a mother.

I've been thinking a lot about motherhood this week and wanted to share a few thoughts: I truly believe that spending time (without a phone in hand) is the most important thing we can do for our children.
BUT we need to do what WE love (or can tolerate) and stop comparing ourselves to anyone else. For me, I like hiking and bike rides, cooking together and playing board games. I can even handle legos and also make some pretty impressive play-dough figurines 😉 I have to hope they get their "kitty" fix with their friends, siblings, or their own darn imagination.
I've realized we are all unique and our children came to US for a reason. Parenting is already hard enough without the weird mom guilt we all feel. Let's stop comparing and maybe admiring instead?? If you've taken the time to read this lengthy post, please tag a mama that you admire below and let her know why...I'll start!
